Following are brief overviews of the courses that I will be instructing for the 2008-2009 school year at Western Washington University. Click on the title for each course to view additional information. For current quarter classes there will be a current syllabus and . Past or future quarter classes will have materials from the most recent quarter where available to serve as a reference point. But, as with most things, change happens.

Children's Literature for Elementary/Middle School Examination of the variety and diversity of literature written for children and adolescents; exploration of book format, major genres, and works by notable authors and illustrators. |

Teaching Writing in the Elementary School Examination of how children learn to write, the process of writing, current issues in teaching writing, and methodology and strategies to teach writing in the elementary school. |
